REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

New Graduates

The requirements for registration are:IMG_3201

  • Approved Degree in Surveying
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Certificate of Competency
  • A declaration that the applicant complies with  Section 7(aa), (ab) and (ac) of the Act.

Surveyor from an Australian State or Territory or New Zealand

A licensed surveyor transferring from another State or Territory or New Zealand can apply for registration as a licensed surveyor with a conditional practising certificate by submitting the following forms and documents to the Secretary and paying the prescribed fees.

  • Letter of Accreditation from the Surveyors Board where currently registered
  • Certified copy of Certificate of Competency

A licensed surveyor registering by letter of accreditation will be required to complete the Application of Survey Law examination toMAPS18 (2) qualify for an unconditional practising certificate. This examination is held in February and August. To apply enrol here.

Licensed Surveyor from Another Country

Requirements are the same as for new graduates.

Surveyors from another country may apply for an exemption from some of the training time depending on the type of experience gained. Exemptions from some of the examination requirements may also be granted. An agreement between RICS and the Reciprocating Boards of Australia and New Zealand has now been published.

Application for Assessment of Overseas Qualifications

The following information is to be used to request assessment of overseas qualifications to become a Candidate which may lead to registration as a Surveyor in Western Australia

Applications for assessment of overseas qualifications are assessed by the BUREAU FOR ASSESSMENT OF OVERSEAS QUALIFICATIONS (Reciprocating Surveyors Boards of Australia and New Zealand).

There is a $297 AUD (Inc GST) charge for the assessment of overseas qualification/s.

Documents need to be translated into English if applicable.

  • Certified copy of your university or college degree/s or any other tertiary institution degree/s or courses.
  • Certified copy of proof of age (drivers’ licence, passport or birth certificate).
  • Copy of an up to date resume.
  • Copy of any other experience which may support your application.
  • Certified copies of any other documents which may support your application (e.g. academic transcript)
